PAS 1188-4:2014
FLOOD DIVERT WOOD / TIMBER GATES were BSI Kitemarked, but unfortunately BSI changed the standard to include an impact test but they have not been able to offer a test facility large enough to accommodate our gates so unfortunately we have had to with draw from the scheme.
They are tested to the previous standard PAS 1188-4:2014 and were the first gates available on the market with the standard. The single pedestrian gates are tested to 1.2m (4ft) wide and the pairs of gates are tested to 4m (13ft) wide.
Both our single Flood Divert Gate and the pairs of Flood Divert Gates have passed the testing set out by the previous BSI (British Standard institute).
By far using Flood Divert Gates is the best way to prevent your property from flooding, if you can stop the water at the boundary it is better than stopping it at the door, as it allows time to pump any water away that may be around before it even reaches your door.
Fitting service available throughout the whole of the UK.
See attached photos as examples of our flood gates, they are all made to measure and to any design you require. If you have a style you would like that is not shown on the website, send us a drawing or a photo and we will be able to design a bespoke flood gate for you. A good website to choose more styles from is www.sandalwoodgates.co.uk
Not only are Flood Divert Gates very aesthetically pleasing they are made to last and to mitigate the devastation a flood may cause. All of our timber gates are made in Accoya or Iroko hardwood, both are high quality timbers that will give years of service if looked after correctly. Accoya has a 50 year guarantee against rot when above ground, so these really are gates for life. They work as general gates day to day, when they are required to be flood resilient there are clamps on the inside that need to be positioned, this takes only a matter of seconds to do on each clamp and requires no tools.
Why choose Flood Divert Gates?
Gates are the first thing anyone sees as they approach the property. Flood Divert Gates not only look great (potentially adding value to the property) but they can also prevent disastrous flooding to your property. They are also very discreet, barriers are great but you will need to store them (normally quite away from the location they are needed), they take time to install when needed and they don't look very good if left in position when you go away on holiday which is potentially advertising to everyone that the property may be empty. whereas Flood Divert Gates just look like a normal pair of high quality gates.

The above gates were tested in anger 24/1/2018 see photos below
Dear Steve,
Today the gates were tested ‘in river anger’!
The Borders are often overlooked in national news – so you may not have heard - but, today the Tweed in Peebles was up to 2.8m and the water was at the gates.
You might like the attached photos. Sorry not to give you a ‘front-on’ view but we didn’t want to go wading! Not a leak to the inside with water to the large gates for about 3 hours.
Thank you again to you and to your team.
Best regards
Alan

Testimonial for gates above
'I am absolutely thrilled with the flood proof gates that Steve constructed and fitted for me at the rear of my property.
The quality, robustness, aesthetics and attention to detail far supersedes anything else I have seen in this crowded market. Within one day a passer by described them as the best gates in town (which they are). A small company taking pride in supplying a premium product is a rarity in a market dominated by compromise, very highly recommended indeed'.
P.S. Stamford Lincs.

Thank you. The gates have saved us from being flooded twice since they were installed so it was well worth the investment.Customer Testimonial for the Flood Divert gates above (23/8/2017)
Just to let you know that the floodgates you fitted in September 2016 paid for themselves today. A period of very heavy rain at about 11am had roads flooding and our house threatened. As you can see from the photos water about 6ins deep was unable to get past the gates for about an hour until it subsided. I can definitely confirm the gates work.
Below photos are for a scheme we completed in Doncaster to protect all the properties at the boundary, the best way to stay dry.
